Currawong Phones
Phone numbers, extensions, ring groups and voicemail for any business or organisation. Calls run on separate phone servers, not through the website, so they keep ringing even when the dashboard is down.
What it does
The everyday things a phone system is for, with per-extension call recording and a searchable history of who called whom behind them.
Numbers and extensions
Give everyone an extension, and point each number at whoever should answer it. Change any of it yourself in the dashboard.
Voicemail that comes to you
A missed message arrives as an email with the recording attached and a written transcript, so you can read it without listening to it.
A menu, and your opening hours
Callers can choose where to go. Outside the hours you set, calls go somewhere sensible instead of ringing an empty room.
Ring a whole team
A ring group calls several phones at once, or one after another, until somebody picks up.
Keep your own phone company
Already have numbers with a provider you like? Point them at this and they keep working. Each organisation can have its own carrier, with its own credentials, so nothing has to move.
Calls outlive the dashboard
The dialling rules live on the phone server itself, not in the website. If the dashboard goes offline, calls still connect.
Encrypted where it counts
Calls can run over TLS with encrypted audio. Carrier passwords are encrypted in the database and never shown back to you; on the server they sit in root-owned config that only the phone software reads.
What it doesn't do yet
Being built, and worth knowing before you ask.
- There's no sign-up form. Getting set up means a conversation first.
- Transferring a number's billing across hasn't been done yet. Your existing number can keep working in the meantime, by pointing your current provider at the system.
- If a phone server goes down, its calls stop. There's no automatic second server standing by.
How it works
Cloudflare Workers control plane
The dashboard, APIs and config logic run as Workers — globally distributed, instantly available, nothing to provision. D1 holds the source of truth.
Validated, atomic deploys
Press deploy and your config is rendered, checked and shipped to a media node over a private channel. Bad config is caught before it reaches a phone.
